The position for a Al-jon Baler Logger Operator is CLOSED as of 10/28/2006, Laurel Recycling Services will still accept applications.
Job Title: Al-jon Baler Logger Operator.
Job Summary: Advanced operation and general maintenance of heavy equipment.
Major Duties: Is responsible for the operation, care, and maintenance of the Al-jon Baler Logger. The operator must analyze potential risk to bystanders and other equipment, and minimize any damage caused as a result. The operator must travel with the machine to and from our Meridian location.
Minor Duties: May be called upon to perform any other duty on the yard on a temporary basis. Includes unloading customers, operating a cutting torch, or working in the warehouse.
Relationships: Reports to the branch manager of Laurel Recycling Services. Supervises no one.
Qualifications: High school graduate or GED preferred. Excavator or knuckle-boom experience (5 years). Lift 50 pounds. Must be adept at troubleshooting and maintenance. Must be able to self supervise when working on other yards.

The position for a Heavy Equipment Operator is OPEN as of 3/21/2007, Laurel Recycling Services will still accept applications.
Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator
Job Summary: General operation and maintenance of heavy equipment.
Major Duties: Is responsible for the operation, care, and maintenance of the excavator and or magnet loader. The operator must analyze potential risk to bystanders and other equipment, and minimize any damage caused as a result.
Minor Duties: May be called upon to perform any other duty on the yard on a temporary basis. Includes unloading customers, operating a cutting torch, or working in the warehouse.
Relationships: Reports to the branch manager. Supervises no one.
Qualifications: High school graduate or GED preferred. Excavator or knuckle boom experience (1 year). Lift 50 pounds. Must be adept at troubleshooting and maintenance.
Compensation: $10.00/hr starting pay; however, pay is commiserate with experience.
The position for a Truck Driver is CLOSED as of 9/15/2006, Laurel Recycling Services will still accept applications.
Job Title: Roll-off Operator/Driver
Job Summary: General operation of a tractor trailer with a roll-off unit.
Major Duties: Operation and care of a truck and roll-off unit. Pick up industrial tubs around south Mississippi.
Minor Duties: Minor Maintenance on the roll-off unit, truck, and tubs.
Relationships: Reports to the branch manager of Laurel Recycling Services. Supervises no one.
Qualifications: Class A CDL required. (5) years experience, driving trucks. Roll off experience preferred but not required. Must be able to climb up the side of a roll-off container and tarp it. Must be able to access risks and minimize them on the job. There is a danger of scrap metal flying out of tubs and into traffic if not secured correctly.

Job Title: Material Handler / Iron Yard
Job Summary: General material grading and handling duties in the iron yard.
Major Duties: Is responsible for unloading all customers in the iron yard. Must fill out tickets correctly and properly grade materials. Is responsible for the care, operation, and maintenance of the CAT 242B and the CAT 246. Will be called upon to separate mixed metals and keep the roads free of debris.
Minor Duties: May be required to operate the cutting torch from time to time. May be called upon to conduct any other needed duties on the yard or in the warehouse temporarily.
Relationships: Reports to the branch manager. Supervises no one.
Qualifications: Must have a firm grasp of the English language. Must be able to read and write clearly. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must have prior experience running a skid steer or fork lift.
Compensation: Hourly wage commensurate with experience. $8.00/hr starting pay.
